Nis Center for Social Work "Sveti Sava" by 21st time in a row is to the host of "October meetings of social protection". The primary theme of scientific conference, which was opened at the Faculty of Law in Nis is "children and young people in the system of protection or secondary traumatization". As every year, the event was attended by a large number of sociologists, social workers, educators, lawyers, workers in social care centers from all over Serbia and from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Bulgaria. Conference participants were welcomed by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Laszlo Cikos, director of the Center for Social Work Zoran Jovic, and the meeting was opened by the Mayor of Nis, Zoran Perisic. The meeting was also attended by Boban Džunić, president of Palilula Municipality, who pointed out good examples in the work of this city municipality in implementing the concept of care for children and young people and collaboration with social welfare institutions

Director of the Center for Social Work in Nis, Zoran Jovic said that during the meeting it will be discussed about different experiences and examples of good practice and seek optimal solutions-what to fix in the systems and create new services related to the protection of those who are most vulnerable - children, the elderly and ethnic minorities. - Each local self-government, as well as our customers outside of Serbia, have their own models of child protection which will be presented here. If these models are applicable in our local self-government and the work of our Center, they will be implemented in the future, said Jovic. According to him, in this year's October meeting of the Social Protection Nis Centre for Social Work will present the results of the surveys on bullying. -This Work is also in the Proceedings that goes with this meeting. The survey was conducted by valid scientific methodology, includes a representative sample of children and young people from primary and secondary schools, but not just in the urban part of the city but also from rural schools, said Jovic.

According to Boban Džunić, Palilula Municipality has an extremely successful cooperation with the Center for Social Work "Sveti Sava". One of the reasons is the fact that of the total number of registered welfare cases in 67 percent of the Municipality of Palilula. "In our municipality has been opened the first office of the Centre on the ground, where it is most needed-in " Djuka Dinic ". Of course, it would be far more satisfied that the Centre has less work, but they work extremely well and constantly are at the service of citizens. Palilula Municipality and the Centre realized many common actions, where we are helping vulnerable families. It is not just about the help in money, food, health care. One point of children with companions we sent for treatment-rehabilitation because they were unable to provide their own, said the president of Palilula Municipality Boban Džunić. Palilula Municipality has a fund together with RTV Bellammie launched back in July 2013. Fund entitled "Let's help our children," still works. In the previous period, more than 40 families were taken care of in this way, and many children were sent to rehabilitation.
